- UPDATED: APRIL 22, 2008 - - UPDATED! - CD TITLE CHRISTMAS SPECIAL - GOSPEL INSPIRATIONAL FAVORITES LABEL BMG COUNTRY CHINA PRICE $125   COMMENTS First of all, as everyone can see, this may be the most attractive promotional CD package that BMG China has released! It is interesting because, MOST Chinese don't celebrate Christmas but do enjoy gospel songs, they have titled this a CHRISTMAS SPECIAL! Very odd but who cares as it's a REAL BEAUTY! BMG China has done it again and so far has been the only country that has really and truly decided to promote the 30th Anniversary of Elvis' passing. The history behind this SPECIAL PROMOTIONAL NOT FOR SALE EDITION CD is VERY, VERY UNUSUAL from what we can gather from our sources. Apparently BMG CHINA had scheduled a special 2 CD set for the 30TH called 30 YEARS AFTER - FRESH AND NEW (NOTE: this is the correct title WITHOUT "STILL" included!). It was to contain 60 tracks with all of them REMASTERED and REMIXED and with possibly at least half of them either alternate takes or mastered so different that they sound like different takes. Unfortunately we do not know what the original song listings were but we were able to obtain a pre release sheet on this special promo version. Anyway, apparently BMG U.S. decided to withdraw permission for the regular CD's release but some copies of the promo DID get out. This may just be the RAREST Elvis promo CD EVER!!! The quality of the songs on this CD is far superior than versions issued before. All tracks have been digitally processed and remastered, as they have never been before, with the most up to date of equipment and process. 1) AN AMERICAN TRILOGY (April 9, 1972, Hampton Roads, Va.) (from CPL2 4031 THIS IS ELVIS vinyl LP!!) . This did come out on CD before but.......the version from the ESSENTIAL COLLECTION (from all countries), and ALL TIME GREATEST HITS are taken from far inferior quality masters and the sound quality is full of hiss! 2) If I CAN DREAM (June 23, 1968 Burbank, Ca) - ALTERNATE TAKE 4 from AFL1 2772 HE WALKS BESIDE ME vinyl LP!! This was released many years ago on CD from Canada and Australia but the quality on this is far superior to those. 3) AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL (Dec. 13, 1975 Las Vegas) - REMASTERED VERSION! This version is far improved from what BMG has issued and even what has appeared anywhere else officially or unofficially. Elvis' voice can be heard MUCH CLEARER than ever before!! Please click on the photo for a larger picture of the cover and label America The Beautiful; An American Trilogy; If I Can Dream CD TITLE FROM MEMPHIS TO CANADA LABEL BMG COUNTRY UNITED STATES PRICE $39.95   COMMENTS This RARE CD for Walter Pacheco's PORTUGESE ELVIS PRESLEY FAN CLUB OF CANADA) for the July 29-30, 2000 convention. The version of 500 MILES is totally different than the one used on the FTD IN A PRIVATE MOMENT CD!! This version is in STEREO with much better quality than on the FTD one. On the FMTC release you can hear a girl singing but she cannot be heard at all on the FTD one which sounds like Charlie Hodge is the main focus and lead singer with Elvis backing him up!! This sounds like a totally different take of this song. How and why it was used for this CD is unknown and where it came from is unknown. It comes in a beautiful SPECIAL DELUXE FULL COLOR 6 panel digipack with all panels (inside and out including the Maria Columbus picture in the tray behind the CD!) in FULL COLOR!! There are 8 unreleased photos from THAT'S THE WAY IT IS inside!! Each CD is numbered on the back (only 1000 made). This is,I believe, the only time a promo CD was made by BMG in the U.S. for another country!!!
